Legal
Introduction
This statement constitutes CRsteel Limited's Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for the financial year ending 2026. It is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and has been prepared with reference to current UK Government guidance on modern slavery reporting.
CRsteel Limited is a UK structural steel fabrication and steelwork business, providing services across commercial, industrial, infrastructure, construction, and related sectors. As a responsible business, CRsteel Limited is committed to operating lawfully, ethically, and with integrity in all areas of its work.
Our commitments and values
Integrity, responsibility, and respect are central to the way CRsteel Limited conducts business. We are committed to ensuring that modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, exploitation, and unlawful labour practices have no place within our business or supply chain.
Ensuring that there is no human trafficking, exploitation, forced labour, or modern slavery within our supply chain or any part of our business.
Implementing and maintaining effective systems and controls designed to identify, reduce, and manage the risk of modern slavery.
Working only with suppliers, contractors, agencies, and business partners who share our commitment to lawful, ethical, and responsible working practices.
Taking appropriate action where any risk, suspicion, or evidence of modern slavery or human trafficking is identified.
This statement outlines the measures CRsteel Limited has in place to assess risk, prevent modern slavery, and promote ethical conduct across the business and its supply chain.
CRsteel Limited will not knowingly support, trade with, or continue to work with any organisation that is involved in slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, or exploitation.
Policies
CRsteel Limited recognises that modern slavery should not be addressed in isolation, but as part of a wider approach to ethical business conduct, legal compliance, employee welfare, and responsible procurement.
Our internal policies and procedures are designed to promote fair treatment, lawful working practices, safe working conditions, and responsible supply chain management. These may include policies and procedures relating to: recruitment and employment practices; right to work checks; health and safety; equal opportunities; disciplinary and grievance procedures; whistleblowing and reporting concerns; anti-bribery and corruption; supplier approval and procurement; subcontractor and agency labour management; and employee welfare and workplace conduct.
These policies are communicated to relevant employees and are reviewed where necessary to ensure they remain appropriate for the business and its legal obligations.
Training and awareness
CRsteel Limited understands that awareness is an important part of preventing modern slavery. Employees involved in procurement, recruitment, supplier management, subcontractor engagement, site supervision, and compliance are expected to remain vigilant to the risks of exploitation and unlawful labour practices.
Where appropriate, CRsteel Limited provides guidance and awareness to relevant staff so they understand what modern slavery and human trafficking are, how to identify potential warning signs, how to report concerns, the importance of responsible recruitment and supply chain management, and the company's expectations of suppliers, contractors, and labour providers.
CRsteel Limited encourages employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to raise concerns if they believe modern slavery, exploitation, or unethical labour practices may be taking place.
Risk assessment
CRsteel Limited operates within the UK construction, fabrication, and steelwork sectors. These sectors can involve subcontracted labour, temporary labour, agency workers, transport, manufacturing, materials supply, and site-based activity. As a result, the company recognises that modern slavery risks must be actively considered and managed.
As part of its risk assessment approach, CRsteel Limited considers: the nature of the work being carried out; the use of subcontractors, suppliers, or agency labour; the location of suppliers and labour providers; the type of materials, goods, and services being procured; the recruitment methods used by labour providers; and the legal and ethical standards expected of suppliers and contractors.
CRsteel Limited expects suppliers and contractors to comply with all applicable employment, labour, health and safety, and human rights legislation. Where appropriate, suppliers may be required to confirm that they comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and that they take reasonable steps to prevent modern slavery within their own operations and supply chains.
Due diligence
CRsteel Limited takes a proportionate and risk-based approach to due diligence. This may include checks on suppliers, subcontractors, agencies, and labour providers before engagement and during ongoing working relationships.
Our due diligence measures may include: confirming supplier and subcontractor details; checking that labour providers operate lawfully; ensuring employees have the legal right to work; reviewing recruitment and employment practices where appropriate; monitoring supplier performance and conduct; requiring suppliers and contractors to comply with CRsteel Limited's ethical standards; investigating concerns where they are raised; and taking action where standards are not met.
CRsteel Limited aims to work with reputable suppliers and contractors who demonstrate responsible business practices and who understand their obligations in relation to modern slavery, human trafficking, and labour exploitation.
Recruitment and employment practices
CRsteel Limited is committed to fair and lawful recruitment practices. We take steps to ensure that employees are recruited properly, treated fairly, and employed in accordance with applicable UK employment law.
This includes appropriate right to work checks, confirmation of identity, fair payment arrangements, and clear employment terms. The company does not support the use of forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, unlawful deductions, or any form of coercion in employment.
Where agency or temporary labour is used, CRsteel Limited expects labour providers to comply with all legal requirements and to ensure that workers are treated fairly and lawfully.
Reporting concerns
CRsteel Limited encourages employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns relating to modern slavery, human trafficking, exploitation, unsafe working practices, or unethical conduct.
Concerns may be raised through normal management channels or through any available internal reporting or whistleblowing procedure. Reports will be treated seriously and handled appropriately.
Where CRsteel Limited identifies or suspects modern slavery or human trafficking, the company will take appropriate steps to investigate the matter. Where necessary, this may include working with relevant external bodies, taking corrective action, suspending supplier relationships, terminating contracts, or reporting concerns to the appropriate authorities.
Supporting victims
If CRsteel Limited discovers, suspects, or is informed that it may be associated with modern slavery, human trafficking, or wider human rights violations, it will take steps to investigate and respond appropriately.
The company will seek to ensure that any response takes account of the safety, welfare, and interests of any person whose rights may have been affected. Where appropriate, CRsteel Limited may signpost individuals to relevant external support organisations, such as the Modern Slavery Helpline or other appropriate authorities and support services.
Supply chain expectations
CRsteel Limited expects its suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, labour providers, and business partners to conduct themselves in a way that is consistent with the principles of this statement.
Suppliers and contractors are expected to: comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and all applicable labour laws; avoid any use of forced, bonded, trafficked, or exploited labour; treat workers fairly and with respect; maintain safe working conditions; ensure wages and working hours comply with legal requirements; carry out appropriate checks within their own supply chains; and report any concerns relating to modern slavery or exploitation.
Failure to meet these expectations may result in CRsteel Limited reviewing, suspending, or ending the business relationship.
